Hello, my name is Hanka Poplawska. I was born in Poland. From a young age, I was always interested in Art. After enjoying an intensive education in a specialised Art High School, I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and in Poznan, Poland. I graduated with full honours from the Department of Interior Design in 1975.
During my studies, I was fortunate to study under the famous Professor Magdalena Abakanowicz who left a lasting impression in my artistic creations, particularly in tapestry.
In 1983, I moved to Perth, Western Australia. I continued creating tapestries, with some of my work being selected for display in major hotels in the city and also in private commissions.
While living in Australia, the beautiful surroundings sparked my interest to explore photography. Combined with my newfound skills in digital imagery and photography, I began a new series of creative Australian artwork I specialised in using technology to manipulate and blend photographs to create different effects. My artwork intends to evoke an appreciation for this and not necessarily for what they once were
